The Cloud Engineer will take part in a modernization effort which involves designing, developing, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. This will include leveraging cloud architecture and software as a service technologies while ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficiency of the customer’s in-house information systems supporting core organizational functions.
The Cloud Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This individual may also mentor and guide the rest of the Systems Engineering staff.
US Citizenship is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a government background investigation and be favorably adjudicated before their first day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems leveraging cloud technology and software as a service (SaaS).
- Work with executive team members, decision-makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Federal employees, developers, security analysts, and infrastructure operations to ensure successful implementation of cloud architecture and migration of systems, ensuring integration with existing frameworks and practices.
- Provide technical guidance and support to teams and government stakeholders to ensure the program successfully delivers software products and services.
- Design and recommend new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems, factoring in FedRAMP and ATO requirements.
- Research, integrate, implement, and support COTS applications such as Google Workspace, MS O365, Slack, and Lime Survey.
- Research software and systems products, working with product vendors to verify recommendations, support purchasing efforts, and gather pricing options.
- Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmers and development teams.
- Support development teams in implementing application-specific monitoring for availability and functionality.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- A minimum of 10 years’ demonstrated experience in overseeing the planning, design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products for federal clients of which 3 years are specific to cloud based platforms and SaaS.
- Experience supporting COTS cloud applications, including Google Workspace and it’s FedRAMP and ATO requirements
- At least 5 years’ previous experience as a Systems Administrator (Windows 2019 and/or Linux)
- Experience supporting additional applications such as MS O365, Slack, and Lime Survey among others
- At least 2 years’ experience with compliance controls and security hardening for a US Government computer system at the FISMA Moderate or High levels and applicable data privacy practices and laws
- Experience with programming in some combination of Bash / Java / Perl / PHP / C / C++ / go / Ruby / Python
- Working knowledge of web protocols and the ability to perform diagnostics
- Able to independently monitor, troubleshoot, and tune system configurations
- Ability to work with and communicate effectively with clients and team members (project managers, consultants, technical staff, subject experts) to define project activities and resolve issues.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Independent problem-solving skills, IT troubleshooting, Software debugging, strong analytical abilities, creativity, and a clear appreciation of end customer needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation
- Comfortable working directly with senior Federal technical staff
- Excellent time management and ability to juggle multiple tasks under strict deadlines
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) Professional or Associate certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
- Experience working with federal agency offices including the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience may be substituted in absence of a degree.
