TCG is an award-winning IT solutions provider to the Federal government. We are seeking a Java/JavaScript Developer, who currently resides in the Washington DC metropolitan area, to join our team at a major Federal agency.

US citizenship and the ability to pass a Federal government clearance are required.

Responsibilities:

The Java/JavaScript Developer should be able to design, develop and/or re-engineer highly complex application components, and integrate software packages, programs, and reusable objects residing on multiple platforms. He or she must be able to learn new APIs, libraries, and programming frameworks quickly. Experience with Java, JavaScript, database, jQuery and Web is essential.

Required Skills:

  • Solid experience with creating and modifying JavaScript applications
  • Strong experience with Java and Servlet applications and at least one MVC Framework (Spring, Struts, etc.), and configuration and tuning for at least one servlet container (Tomcat preferred)
  • Good working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Section 508 compliance rules
  • Experience with Linux, including familiarity with basic system administration tasks
  • Ability to learn new APIs, libraries and programming frameworks quickly
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment, someone who “gets” agile development, and has the ability to not let the “perfect” be the enemy of the good (or what works and will meet the deadline).
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of government IT requirements and standard operating procedures
  • Knowledge of government budget and financial processes
  • Knowledge of Atlassian Confluence Plugin API
  • User-level experience with Confluence and Jira or other Atlassian products
  • Experience with Hibernate or another suitable ORM
  • Experience with Maven
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, DB2 or another non-Oracle DBMS
  • Familiarity with RESTful services
  • Familiarity with revision control systems, specifically Git

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
